On May 25th in Pisa, at the Benedettine Center (Piazza San Paolo a Ripa d’Arno, 16), the congress entitled “Nephrological aspects in tuberous sclerosis: the challenge of comorbidity” will be held (start, at 8). The event, organized by the pediatricians Alessandro Orsini and Alice Bonuccelli (representatives of the Pediatric Neurology Clinic of the Pediatrics Operational Unit directed by Diego Peroni), in collaboration with the Ast-National Tuberous Sclerosis Association, will focus on the nephrological and neurological disorders of this pathology, which is a rare genetic disease that affects 1 in 4000/5000 births with multi-organ involvement, although predominantly of the central nervous system.

John Bissler will be present (photo below), director of Pediatric Nephrology and the Center of Excellence on Tuberous Sclerosis at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis (Tennessee, USA), who will give a master’s lecture on the nephrological aspects of tuberous sclerosis. The Aoup is one of the three locations, together with the Bambin Gesù pediatric hospital in Rome and the Tuberous sclerosis center of the San Paolo hospital in Milan, that the Ast – association of patients and caregivers branched out throughout the national territory, with a strong representation also in Tuscany, which brings together hundreds of people – has chosen to host this event.
