Viterbo – We receive and publish – This year, for the first time 47 students from classes IVB and VA of the “Ellera” Primary School participated in the competition of the Junior Mathematics Championships, a competition with educational purposes designed for students in the fourth and fifth classes of primary school, organized by Mateinitaly in collaboration with the Pristem Center of Bocconi University.

It was a great challenge for the students, the preparatory course in fact includes a series of training sessions carried out both in the classroom and at home, which ended with a well-deserved success.

The semi-final took place on March 6th in the institute premises. Between curiosity and apprehension, all the competitors demonstrated great involvement and concentration. The rankings for the two categories CE4 and CE5 arrived at the end of April.

On May 16, in the Green Room, the Headmaster, Prof. Claudia Prosperoni, received all the students and, together with their teachers, handed over the certificates, prizes and medals for the 1st-2nd-3rd place. The good news came when she informed the two first place winners that they would go to Milan to challenge their peers from other Italian schools, representing the IC “Ellera” of Viterbo.

The national final of the “Mathematical Games Championships”, in fact, will be held on Saturday 25 May at Bocconi University.

For children, the Championships are an opportunity to consolidate a good relationship with mathematics and for teachers a stimulus to undertake increasingly complex educational paths.

Special thanks to the Headmaster who approved the initiative, to the families who supported the project and to the teachers of the two classes, starting with the nursery ones, who took care of the students’ preparation.

Congratulations to all the girls and boys who bravely decided to get involved and a big good luck to the two finalists from the entire school community.
