«The last in first place»

Vote for me because the last ones will be in first place. With this parabiblical slogan Giuseppe Palopoli, last night on Latte Dolce, presented the “Wake up Sassari” list which supports him as a candidate for mayor in the municipal elections on 8 and 9 June.

The people and their identity are the thread that binds some interventions on stage in Piazza Madonna del Latte Dolce as well as the dedication towards those who live in difficulty. And it is Palopoli himself who remembers having lived his childhood in the nearby neighborhood of Santa Maria di Pisa in a council house, one of those which, he recalls, are now in a dilapidated condition.

«A lady called me – she says – who hadn’t been able to leave her house for years because the lift wasn’t working. In 12 days I solved everything. This is Palopoli.” He remembers working as a worker, coming from the bottom. “If you vote for me – he concludes – you are voting for a person who is well known and has also suffered from hunger”.

The other interventions of some of the 34 candidates offered ideas such as listening sites, so that people can talk to the administration and make known the critical issues, the connection between Predda Niedda and the city, the usability of the Platamona coast and the need to resolve the problem of the historic centre.
