a tribute to the artisanal knowledge of Matera, signed by NOMASS for Wallpepper Group

With a history of continuous occupation dating back to the Paleolithic, the city of Matera is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. Known for its ancient homes literally set in stone, the stones and for its rock churches, Matera is a symbol and representation of human life that enriches humanity.

The tuff, obtained from the actual rock on which much of Matera is founded, was used to create different types of objects for local use including rose windows, used as ventilation grills.
Alina, designed by NOMASS for Wallpepper Group, pays homage to one of the last remaining fragments of Matera’s traditions and artisanal knowledge.

Playing with scale and stratification, Alina wants to be an innovative imprint on our spaces that preserves tradition, even in small details.
