After the controversy launched by the former mayor of Novara, there is news on the future of the Bistrot Cannavacciuolo, which will change management.

Storm clouds on the horizon for Antonino Cannavacciuolo: the Bistro that bears his name a Novara, which opened in 2015, has had its shutters down since last New Year’s Eve. So far, silence, but there are those who can no longer tolerate this situation: the former mayor of Novara, Massimo Giordano, has turned on the controversy. And the chef’s response was not long in coming: here’s what his staff had to say about the imminent change of management.

The controversy: the “Cannavacciuolo Cafè & Bistrot” closed since New Year’s Eve

Let’s start from the beginning: in 2015, Antonino Cannavacciuolo invested approximately 2 million euros to acquire the space intended for the café of the Teatro Coccia, in Piazza Martiri in Novara, one of the symbols of the city. 596 square meters in total: 349 intended for service and 249 for administration.

For a total fee of 3,500 euros per month, which however do not seem to be the cause of the problem for Chef Cannavacciuolo, who last autumn renewed the rental contract for other 9 yearsand keep paying it.

Yet, the “Cannavacciuolo Cafè & Bistrot” has closed its shutters for the last time New Year 2023, never opening them again. A detail that did not go unnoticed, and which led the chef to reassure people by explaining that he is simply taking the time to devise “a new format” for the restaurant.

But Massimo Giordanoformer mayor of Novara and provincial secretary of the Northern League, doesn’t agree, and writes on social media: “If you don’t love Novara, pack your bags”. According to the politician, leaving such an important place for the city in such a state of degradation, without even bothering to water the plants, is unacceptable. Especially if your name is Antonino Cannavacciuolo, and in life you take part in TV programs to revive the restaurant business in difficulty.

The Bistrot of Cannavacciuolo changes management: the confirmation

He also arrived to comment on the matter Alessandro Canellicurrent mayor of the city, who hopes that the situation can be resolved in a short time: “the current one is a situation that damages the image, the place, and Cannavacciuolo himself, who assured me months ago that everything would be resolved shortly“, he said.

And the Chef of Villa Crespi responded, but through Cinzia Primatestahis wife and manager of the family group: “Have trust and respect towards those who have invested two million euros to restore a place both from a structural point of view and from an energy and fame point of view, giving so much to the city in almost ten years,” the woman said. And then, the news: Primatesta has made it known that the bistro will move into management to “an excellent restaurateur”.

An unexpected change of plan for the city, for which the Bistrot in Piazza Martiri had become a point of reference. But there would be no need to worry: the manager of the Cannavacciuolo Group lets it be known that she is taking “the best decision for Novara”. “And if we haven’t communicated it yet“, continues, “it’s because there is nothing definitive“.

In short, Antonino Cannavacciuolo would have everything under control, but the story will still remain the same shady page in his multi-starred career.
