THE BOOK “LUIGI TENCO. LONTANO, LONTANO” PRESENTED AT VISIONI 47 IN ALESSANDRIA BY ENRICO DEREGIBUS WITH SVISA BRUNO ANNARATONE

24 MAY, 5.30 PM, WITH TENCO SONGS PERFORMED BY THE TRIO DELL’ISOLA AND BY MIRCO MENNA / CRISTIANO MUSSI

Luigi Tenco returns to his home areas. On Friday 24 May at 5.30 pm in Alessandria at Visioni 47 (in via Trotti 47) there will be the presentation of the book “Luigi Tenco. Far far. Letters, stories, interviews”, edited by Enrico de Angelis and Enrico Deregibus for Il Saggiatore. Free entry.

Speaking about the book will be the author Enrico Deregibus, journalist and artistic director originally from Monferrato, who will dialogue with Svisa Bruno Annaratone, historic founder of Radio West.

We will also talk about the singer-songwriter’s ties with the territory, since he was born in Cassine and raised in Ricaldone (where he is buried) and frequented Alessandria.

The presentation is dedicated to Ezio Poli, an important figure of Alessandria culture, who passed away a few months. He was, among other things, the founder of the L’isola trovata club and a great fan of Tenco and Italian singer-songwriters. To pay homage to him, some musicians linked to him such as the Trio dell’Isola and Mirco Menna and Cristiano Mussi will perform songs by Tenco.

“Luigi Tenco. Far far. Letters, stories, interviews” collects in 440 pages the words written and spoken by Tenco during his existence. It is a set of largely unpublished materials – from elementary school essays to letters, from diaries to the outlines of stories and screenplays, from interviews to the last statements during the 1967 Sanremo Festival – which gives shape to an impossible autobiography: the story of his life, his thoughts, his emotions and his encounters through his own voice.

Of almost every phase of his short life, Luigi Tenco left us a trace, a text, a statement, thus allowing us to look beyond the appearances of rebelliousness and melancholy with which he was long identified. This work allows us to get to know up close and in his evolution a creative figure full of desires, non-conformist and ahead of his time, humble and at the same time aware of the power of words and songs. The portrait of one of the greatest singer-songwriters in the history of Italy, in his most sincere essence.

Enrico Deregibus was born in Balzola (Al) and lives in Rome. He is a journalist and artistic director of various musical and cultural events throughout Italy.

For ten years he has been responsible for the artistic direction of “Pem! Festival – Words and music in Monferrato”, which takes place in many municipalities in the area. For many years he was artistic consultant and press office for the Tenco Prize in Sanremo, while in 2017 he created a tribute to Tenco with simultaneous events in more than 30 Italian and French locations.

He is also one of the curators of the Amnesty International Prize for music.

He is considered the biographer of Francesco De Gregori, on whom he published various books. In addition to these, he has signed the Complete Dictionary of Italian Song (2006), My Place in the World. Luigi Tenco, singer-songwriter (2007) with Enrico de Angelis and Sergio Secondiano Sacchi, Who cares about music? (2013).
