discovering butterflies in the nature reserve

Roccalbegna (Grosseto). It closes on Saturday 25 May “Oasis Effect”the month of the WWF Oases of the Bosco Rocconi nature reserve, in the municipality of Roccalbegna, with two events not to be missed.

The morning will be dedicated toobservation of butterflies; an excursion along the paths of the protected area to understand firsthand what it has meant in recent years to have safeguarded one of the most beautiful and important places in Tuscany. In the afternoon, meet in the council room of the municipality of Semproniano to attend the screening of a short film on the reserve.

The first appointment on Saturday 25 May is at 10am for the guided tour of the Bosco Rocconi nature reserve and WWF Oasis to discover the magical world of butterflies.

Participants, after a brief introduction on the importance of butterflies and their ecological role, will be accompanied along the paths of the reserve by an expert guide, who will illustrate the various species that will be encountered and satisfy the curiosities of visitors.

Useful information

The excursion is suitable for all ages and does not require specific physical preparation. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for walking on natural paths. It is recommended to bring water and a light snack with you. It is also advisable to equip yourself with binoculars to better observe the butterflies and facilitate the recognition of the various species. For those who love photography there will be many opportunities to dedicate themselves to “macro”.

The second appointment of Saturday 25 May is at 5pm for the presentation of the video contribution on the Bosco Rocconi nature reserve “La Valle dei Falchi”, in the Italy room of the Municipality of Semproniano.

Thanks to the support and will of the Municipality of Semproniano, a new video contribution has been created on the Bosco Rocconi nature reserve; twelve intense minutes, created thanks also to the contribution of the Tuscany Region, which offer an in-depth look at the natural wonders of the Bosco Rocconi reserve, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and the protection of biodiversity and which will also represent a fundamental contribution to the knowledge of the upper Albegna valley and its territory. At the end of the screening it will be possible to interact with the authors of the short documentary and with the director of the WWF Oasis to deepen knowledge of the area, but also the filming and documentation techniques.

The nature reserve

The Bosco Rocconi nature reserve and WWF Oasis is a protected area of ​​great ecological and landscape value established in 1998. Located in the heart of Tuscany, the reserve is a sanctuary for many species of flora and fauna, including numerous varieties of butterflies, such as the rare Cassandra. WWF Italy has been involved in the management of the 130 hectares of its property since 1995, ensuring the conservation of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable educational and recreational activities.
