Palermo. Tourism and sport, the Municipality signs a memorandum of understanding with Gal Terre Normanni

The municipality of Palermo and the Gal Terre Normanne have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop joint activities of collective interest on tourism and sport aimed at making the city attractive in connection with the territories of the province. The agreement was signed by the councilor for tourism and sport Alessandro Anello in the presence of the administrative director of the Gal Giuseppe Sciarabba.

Among the objectives of the agreement are the promotion of experiential tourism to enhance local identities and typical products, encouraging sustainable use of the territory; increasing the competitive capacity of tourism entrepreneurship, also on foreign markets, through marketing and digital innovation actions. And again, the accessibility of the city’s sites in particular for people with special needs; the improvement of the tourist offer with new technologies with a view to deseasonalizing flows.

The agreement launches a technical table to develop proposals for community, national, regional and local programmes/funds. “There are many opportunities to be seized – says councilor Anello – and this year in particular they can be linked to roots tourism by virtue of the many Palermitans who live abroad, descendants of emigrants, eager to visit the city with which they maintained an emotional and cultural bond. We are also focusing on sports tourism to enhance the city and the villages along the Santa Rosalia path with the aim of attracting new flows of visitors in the low season”.
