“Campania always records a growing trend of patients taken into care for DGA even during the lockdown period this trend did not stop” he declared Aniello Baselice.
“Campania is the region that has the highest number of users in Italy: 3,334 patients, predominantly male, taken care of by the 42 SERDs. A greater number in Lombardy (2,500), Veneto (1,460), Emilia Romagna (1,260), Puglia (1,200) and Piedmont (1,000).
A number equal to almost a fifth of the 15,000 Italian citizens currently being treated at the 163 specialized facilities (around 8% of the 1.3 million Italians affected by serious gambling-related disorders according to estimates provided by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità).
The largest number of patients taken care of is concentrated in the Salerno-Naples-Caserta triangle.
Since June 2022, the first regional public residential facility carrying out rehabilitation programs for patients with DGA has been active at the ASL Salerno (Terrafutura Therapeutic Community of S. Arsenio).”
“We must intervene on the phenomenon of gaming addiction also through online tools, because online is tackled with online tools. We are supporting some projects such as:
– the toll-free number 0823.445080, a regional service;
– the mandatory training of managers of activities and commercial establishments connected to the public gaming sector to protect minors, combat the DGA, guarantee compliance with the law.
– the promotion of the Register of self-exclusion from online gaming sites of problem gamblers and those suffering from Gambling Disorder.
– social communication for the protection of young people, in particular minors, and other more vulnerable groups of the population (women, elderly people suffering from addiction disorders and hardship”.

“The interaction with operators in the sector allows us to turn on those who are the sentinels of the presence of a problem on which the healthcare system must then intervene, which is why collaboration with the network is important” it was said during the event.
“We have decided to strengthen the work of addiction services, with an action plan that has allowed the 42 Serds of the Region to have their own dignity and specialized equipment suitable for intervening efficiently. We have two funds for gambling, that of the Ministry of Health; the other established with a 2016 budget of 50 million which refers to the regional national plans for the fight against addictions.
The services must be widespread and the interventions must be integrated to allow the interconnection of the various departments” he said Antonio Postiglione – General Director of Health Protection and Coordination of the Regional Health System.
“Gambling addiction is almost always accompanied by other addictions in the subject, this makes the work of the Serds complex, which is why over the years we have developed standardized protocols to allow the citizen to know the taking charge activity. Since 2016 this has led to an increase in the number of citizens taken into care by 600%. Another objective identified in our plans was precisely that of the creation of Observatories that would analyze a phenomenon from various perspectives.
