VITTORIO VENETO – Goodbye tolawyer Giacomo Caldart. This morning, Tuesday, the well-known professional from Vittoria and for many years the face of the city’s administrative life passed away in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was 93 years old.

His was a life dedicated to his family, to his wife Anna, to his daughters Antonella, social councilor of the municipality of Vittorio Veneto, and Alessandra, and his two nephews to whom he was very close. A life marked by a profession, that of a lawyer, which he led for many years as a life mission. And then from his administrative commitment as councilor during the Concas council, city councilor and also candidate for mayor in 1995: in the first round he came second, with a gap of around fifty votes compared to Antonio Della Libera, then elected mayor having obtained the majority of votes in the runoff.

Caldart he was the founder, in the mid-nineties, of “Vittorio Nuova”, the first civic list to appear on the city’s administrative panorama. A passion for the administrative world passed on to her daughter Antonella, who also entered politics in the early 2000s, taking the baton from her father and now outgoing municipal councilor.

Cenedese, one of the last “zarlatàni de Zheneda”, Caldart was the eldest of five brothers. His family invested a lot in him to study and for him being a lawyer became a mission. «A profession – recalls his daughter Antonella – done with so much passion». At the time there were not many lawyers and they were institutions in the city, real advisors for many people. For many years Caldart had a studio in the center with the lawyer Stefano Arrigo.

«He was a cheerful person, always cheerful, he really liked singing and being outdoors even though he had a physical handicap – adds his daughter -. When I die, she told me, I will run in the meadows and listen to the birds.” She also passed on her contact with nature to her grandchildren, while she shared her passion for painting with his daughters.

Liberal, he had been a candidate for the senate with the Italian Liberal Party in the 1980s. Then the administrative commitment in the city, giving life to a civic body. «When civic buildings didn’t yet exist, he had the innovative idea – recalls the daughter present at her father’s side at that beginning -. He passed on the passion for administration to me.”

The funeral will be held on Thursday at 3.30 pm in the parish church of Sant’Andreawhere the rosary is recited on Wednesday at 6.30pm.
