The Tuscan regional law Rules on integrated urban security and local police and the municipal police regulation, in addition to the national law has established minimum, nr. 1 employee per 1000 inhabitants. doing the calculations, the municipality of Massa until 2022 had approximately 70,000 inhabitants, therefore the municipal police force should have a minimum of 70 employees, plus the commanding officer plus the officers, at least 20, around 90 employees as it was in 1995. However, today there are 59 employees plus the commander and 3 officers, in short understaffed, these subjects are spread over 3 shifts. The staff who are hired, as per regional and national regulations, are obliged to take a 6-month course, and in any case they replace retirements, deaths or resignations. Furthermore, unlike the administrative staff, they work 7 days a week and therefore have a day of compensatory rest, then they must all be well, not get sick, and not have accidents or be subjected to inhalations, they must always be present without the possibility of holidays, they must be present at commemorations with banners, preside over municipal councils, cycling and running races, road accidents, loud music, nightlife, building and commercial abuses, anti-degradation, mistreatment, protection of animals and activities civic, in any weather conditions, entry-exit of pupils and students, demonstrations and processions, tourists, fairs, etc., must carry out institutional and representative activities, environmental services, traffic and legality education and lastly carry out judicial police services and administrative. Prevention and repression are criteria of our activity, if someone runs over your relative and is without insurance, don’t we impose fines?, if they run fast, do we watch them?, if they park in disabled spaces or in front of a driveway, or they burn brushwood in front of your window or they damage a vehicle or a shop window, or the baby gangs have a crazy nightlife of minors. Not to mention natural disasters, which require us to make sacrifices day and night, to restore everything. For the much-needed potholes, please note that the local police can only make reports, but the municipal sector is responsible for this. Is this the security that these gentlemen ask for from a city? The local police operators would be very happy to do the administrative hours, Saturdays, Sundays and long weekends included together with the nights, with their families, without risking anything, instead of being called every second for any problems that with the heat and tourism increase. We are tired of reading biased and false news given without knowing the rules by those who set themselves up as judges and give misleading news, learn about the work of the local police and their various skills.
