Reduction of waiting lists, Sunday openings at the Messina Polyclinic

The Messina Polyclinic adopts measures to reduce waiting lists, approving Sunday openings to respond to the growing demand for health. The Strategic Management, led by Giorgio Giulio Santonocito, has developed an action plan in collaboration with the managers of the nine Integrated Care Departments (DAI).

The primary objective is to dispose of the patients waiting from 2023 and proceed with those scheduled for 2024. Users already on the list are contacted to organize recovery, considering clinical priorities and requested services.

The plan includes extraordinary openings also on weekends, involving various specialties such as radiology, endocrinology, and vascular surgery.

Staff will be involved in separately paid extra-institutional activities.

“The issue of waiting lists appears to be an organizational problem,” says Santonocito. “We have hired new units and worked to guarantee stability and serenity at work.”

The plan is subject to constant monitoring to ensure the achievement of objectives.
