CAMPOBASSO. On 2 June 2024, the 78th anniversary of the proclamation of the Italian Republic was celebrated in this capital. The demonstrations began at 4.00 pm in Piazza della Vittoria where the Prefect Michela Lattarulo, in the presence of the Civil and Military Authorities, paid honors to the Fallen with the laying of the laurel wreath at the monument dedicated to them.
The celebrations continued at the Savoia Theatre, also in the presence of the honorees accompanied by their Mayors and family members, and a large representation of students from the Colozza school in Campobasso.
The solemn flag-raising ceremony took place at the Theater, organized by the Provincial Fire Brigade Command, with the performance of the Italian Anthem and the reading of the messages from the President of the Republic. Before handing out the honours, the Prefect greeted those present, highlighting the importance of this recognition by the Head of State, given to those who, with particular commitment and civic sense, have been able to set an example in their working life or in the social field contributing to the common good. He wanted to express gratitude to them, as a representative of the Government, for what they have done and for the example they offer. The Prefect also recalled how the anniversary of the birth of the Italian Republic is “occasion that unites institutions and civil society around the history and values of our Republic. History and unifying values that are retraced in the ritual and symbolism of this ceremony…”
The Prefect also thanked “all those who with commendable dedication contributed to the creation of a ceremony that excites us and moves us to a renewed commitment, in the name of the values of freedom, peace, solidarity and social and institutional cohesion, expressed by our Constitution”. During the event the “Voci Bianche dei Giovani Sanniti” choir of the “GA Colozza” Comprehensive Institute of Campobasso and the musical group “Piccola di fiati” of the “L. Perosi” of Campobasso performed musical pieces.
