«Now they match me with Angelina Mangothey write to me that I look like her.” Loris Fabianiin art Lunanziohe reports amused at the end of his show “Quid ridet?” (“Who’s laughing?”, ed.) allo Rossellini Space Of Rome. After having literally monopolized the scene for about an hour and a half with his character, a little baroque, a little rock, she still seems to have energy to spare.

The show

It was Lunanzio who allowed him to join the cast of “Lol 4: Whoever laughs is out” on Prime Video thanks to the victory in the talent show of the program, “He who makes you laugh is in”. He is an overwhelming character who breaks the fourth theatrical wall and interacts impetuously with the audience, handing them extra microphones, making them talk and creating comical situations tending towards improvisation. His comedy is composed of double entendres, courtly language, chivalrous tales and irony.

With a white face and black lipstick, long disheveled hair, eighteenth-century shirt with wide sleeves, black knee-length shorts, white socks and black shoes, Lunanzio jumps into the audience, stands on the chairs while pronouncing his bizarre Italian, a mix between ancient, Latin and “vulgar” Italian (sometimes in all senses!). He takes all situations head on, perhaps for this reason he defines himself as the “Jack Sparrow of Lambrate”, a “pirlate” that he evidently admires.

The inspiration for Lunanzio

«During the ‘Silvio D’Amico’ National Academy of Dramatic Arts, the actor students study Alfieri – he explains the birth of his character – who is Shakespeare’s contemporary, even if he does not have the same fate». From the baroque games that this author played with the Italian language, Fabiani, a 41-year-old originally from Melzo in the province of Milan, takes inspiration for the language of Lunanzio, who went from being a comic character to a cabaret character, making his debut on the Lol talent show .

For the costume he was inspired by Goldoni, from whom he also draws the dramatic courtship situations with the women in the audience, which are absolutely hilarious. He performs acts of love that wink at the Commedia dell’Arte and beyond. An elusive “Agnese” seems to be his favorite but he often makes sweet eyes at “Mildred” and others. The spectators play along and get offended, piqued, as soon as he shows his interest in others.

How the character will evolve

Fabiani confesses that he is thinking about an evolution of the character, for which he has big plans. «I want it to evolve into an adventure like ‘Neverending Story’ – he says – that there is a flying dragon on stage, that it becomes more of a fairy tale». She also admits to doing a lot of bodyweight training to be “agile as a cat.”

The actor is involved in other successful projects such as “Alice&Loris” (comedy duo with Alice Redini) at Zelig (in Viale Monza, Milan) and “Cinemalteatro”. Since 2020, as Lunanzio, he has also carried forward the Accademia Dei Lunanzi.

The experience at Lol 4

His recent participation in Lol 4 was a great emotion for him, also educational. «Making comedians who have years of experience laugh is difficult because the comedian works on his background – he says -. Not being known, it was difficult for me too, so I played light. I didn’t want to push too hard because I had to understand when they had the right key to read me.”

The program can also be physically draining with six continuous hours in the same room with other comedians. «We didn’t hear the sound effects that you listen to in the living room, it was all in a vacuum. At a certain point you get tired because it becomes seriously competitive. No one laughs at anything anymore and you laugh at the most unexpected things.” Fabiani was caught out by a number by Rocco Tanica who suddenly wet his trousers in a fake way, as if he had peed on himself, burst out laughing and was eliminated in the fifth episode.
