The artistic source on the sea of Pozzillo, symbol of the seaside village, location of the historic 70s film, “The First Night of Doctor Danieli”, will return to its former glory.
Vandalized and offended over the years by graffiti artists, the fountain is, in fact, undergoing careful cleaning and restoration work, offered free of charge by the “Restauro D’arte Monumentale” company.
“The source of Pozzillo” – they remember the mayor Roberto Barbagallo and the president of the municipal council Michele Greco – “has great historical and emotional value for Acireale and for many vinegars. This place is one of the most evocative of our coast” – they add – “and seeing it clean again will be a joy for many”.
What is most hoped for is that, after the redevelopment, the fountain will remain clean for a long time. Vandals and various hooligans will, however, have to be very careful, because, as announced by theCouncilor for Public Works and Urban Decoration, Salvo Licciardello, “a surveillance camera will be installed to discourage any further vandalism raids.”
