We receive and publish
With dismay and deep bitterness we learn of the arson that devastated the work of art “San Nikolaos” in the Pignera Park in Crotone. An act of barbarism that affects not only the work itself, but also the values of welcome, inclusion and hope that it embodied.
We express our strongest condemnation for this cowardly act. The work “San Nikolaos”, created by the master Massimo Sirelli and inaugurated only a few weeks ago, represented a tangible symbol of the generosity and welcoming capacity of our community. Its transformation from a wreck to a work of art was a message of rebirth and hope, a warning not to forget the suffering of those fleeing wars and persecution.
This fire represents an attack not only on the artistic and cultural heritage of our city, but also on the very values that define us as a community. We cannot allow hatred and intolerance to prevail.
We must react and stubbornly promote the culture of dialogue, respect and tolerance. Only all together can we achieve this goal.
