Tomorrow, May 22nd, the official presentation of the multidisciplinary sporting event
The press conference to present “Play the Games 2024” has been called for tomorrow, May 22nd, at 10.30 am in the “Mandela” room of the Matera town hall. This multidisciplinary sports event is promoted by the Special Olympics Italy Committee and supported by the Municipality of Matera. The event, which will be held from 23 to 26 May in Matera and Metaponto, will see the participation of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities from all over Italy. The Special Olympics Basilicata team organized the central-south stage, reserved for the disciplines of athletics, bowls, bowling and swimming. Athletes from 11 Italian regions will participate: Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Lazio, Marche, Molise, Puglia, Sardinia, Sicily and Umbria. Around 600 people will be present, including athletes, technicians, family members and companions. The press conference will be moderated by the journalist Annamaria Sodano and will feature speeches by the mayor Domenico Bennardi, the sports councilor Antonio Materdomini, the director of Special Olympics Basilicata Filippo Orlando and the athlete Gabriele D’Ettorre accompanied by his mother Damiana Cazzato.
