In the evening between classical music and jazz. It’s time for ‘Symphonies in the Garden’

Classical music and jazz music, in a park that had seen very few organized concerts. The park in question is the Giordano Bruno in via Mario Poledrelli, in Ferrara: it is here that, starting from June, a series of musical events included in the ‘Symphonies in the garden’ program will be held. These are 16 evenings, dedicated to classical music and jazz, which will begin on June 1st and end on the 23rd, in the redeveloped park inaugurated last December. Sinfonie in Giardino, in fact, is included in the ‘Safe Parks’ project of the Municipality of Ferrara – thanks to the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Security and Legality Area – and is organized by Ferrara Musica, in collaboration with the Circolo AdM Frescobaldi, Frescobaldi Conservatory and Orchestra City of Ferrara. The direction and production of the event is by Ultimo Baluardo Aps and Sonika (with graphic design by the Alpaca cooperative society). The organization, however, heads the Mediation Center in conjunction with the Urban Security Office. “It is an experimental initiative – explains Federico Di Marco, vice president of Ultimo Baluardo –, but it is already an important edition: it is part of the extended project which involves all the redeveloped places in the Gad district”. The opening concert on June 1st is dedicated to the composer and orchestra master Ennio Morricone and his memorable soundtracks, celebrated all over the world: the pianist and composer Aurelio Canonici will perform together with the violinist and artistic director of the Teatro Comunale, Marcello Corvino. Accompanying them on stage is Yulia Merkudinova, a very talented soprano and already the protagonist of the opera season of the Abbado Theater in Ferrara. This and all the other initiatives, which will take place from Wednesday to Sunday (starting at 9pm), until the end of the event, are free. Throughout the event there will be a food and beverage refreshment area. “We hope for public feedback – says Dario Favretti, organizational director of Ferrara Musica –. Like Ferrara Musica, we also take local initiatives to heart, which seek to disseminate high quality music levels”. “I have always passed through this somewhat forgotten area of the city on my way to the station. Today we present a beautiful exhibition, which the conservatory approves and supports”, says director Annamaria Maggese. “Bringing music, culture, concerts, sports to all the parks of Ferrara: it is an important challenge”, says deputy mayor Nicola Lodi. At the conference Giovanni Polo artistic director of Orchestra Città di Ferrara, Luca Longhini of Circolo Frescobaldi, Daniele De Rosa of Alpaca and the other representatives involved.
