An enviable and special achievement for Alfredo Cerioli who celebrated his hundredth birthday yesterday. Reggiano doc (“I was born in the Venezia neighborhood of San Maurizio, but I have always lived in La Rosta”, he is particularly keen to underline) known for having been an important sales agent as a representative of fabrics (which supplied to many local companies to create shirt curtains) touring Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and the Marche in particular. But also for his participation in the Resistance as a partisan with the battle name of ‘Brenno’, already awarded by the Anpi with a medal for valor. Yesterday morning Alfredo was celebrated with a well-attended toast by his son Roberto, his nephew Corrado and his friends at the Antico Caffè del Teatro in via Crispi, in the heart of Reggio, where he usually finds himself every morning (“I take a taxi and come to center”, he says) to have breakfast and read the newspapers. Avid Reggiana and Inter fan. “He knows all the players and teams, he knows very well who scored goals”, say his friends regarding his great mental clarity and memory. “The secret to reaching this age? Being honest people. This morning (yesterday, ed.) my former suppliers called me to wish me well. It’s the best gift, it means that I’ve worked well in this life”, he says with Alfredo is proud as he raises a glass.
