Ladispoli and Civitavecchia launch the pilot project “Recipes for health: more iodine, less salt” –

Of Marco Di Marzio

Ladispoli and Civitavecchia, the pilot project “Recipes for health: more iodine, less salt” has started

Arrive at an awareness campaign for the reduction of salt consumption, the exclusive choice of iodized salt and the consumption of foods naturally rich in iodine.

The project, of national importance, entitled “Recipes for health: more iodine, less salt” is proposed by TaSiN (technical table on Nutritional Safety of the Ministry of Health).

The context of the initiative is the National/Regional Prevention Plan – PP1 Schools that Promote Health, and it was possible to implement it thanks to the work network and collaboration with the Municipalities involved, the Managers of the Hotel Institutes, the Food Hygiene and Nutrition Service ( SIAN) of the Prevention Department of the ASL Roma 4 and the contracting companies of the School Catering Services.

The Councilors for School Services of the Municipalities of Ladispoli and Civitavecchia, and the respective Canteen Commissions have welcomed this innovation.

The kids from the hotel institutes created recipes which they sent to SIAN to undergo nutritional analysis and feasibility assessment in collective catering.

On May 28th, in the Municipality of Ladispoli, and on May 30th in the Municipality of Civitavecchia, after a previous demonstration called on the 14th together with ASL Roma 4, the catering companies will test the recipes that they will administer to school pupils.

The students of the hotel schools will be present in uniform in the various refectories and will illustrate the dishes offered to the children.

At the end of the two days, satisfaction surveys will be carried out in both municipalities and, if the dishes are successful, their inclusion in school menus throughout Italy will be proposed.

In Ladispoli, a press conference is scheduled for the presentation of the project on May 28th at 10.00 am, in the “Fausto Ceraolo” Council Chamber.

There will be representatives of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Regional Directorate for Health and Social Policies, Prevention and Health Promotion Area, representatives of TaSiN, representatives of the Municipality of Civitavecchia and the Municipality of Ladispoli, the Management of ASL Roma 4, the Director of the Department of Prevention, the managers of both hotel institutes, the Cir Food company and the Dussmann company.
