In a few days, the 107th Giro d’Italia will also pass through the Veneto Region: the 18th stage of the pink race will end in the city of Padua!
Giro d’Italia 2024: the 18th stage is coming to Padua
There 107th edition of the Giro d’Italia is ready, with the 18th and 20th stages, to cross the streets of Venetoarriving from Trentino Alto Adige.
The first stage will end in the region next Thursday 23 May 2024when the cyclists will start from Fiera di Primiero (Trentino Alto Adige) until arriving in Padua, for a total of 178 kmof which difference in altitude 550 m.
According to experts, it is a simple stage, which will probably see a final sprint. From Fiera di Primiero, you will arrive in Province of Belluno, passing through Lamon, Ponte Serra, Fonzaso, Seren del Grappa, until reaching Feltre.
From the Belluno area we will descend further, crossing the lands of Prosecco (Valdobbiadene), passing through the Province of Treviso. From there, it will start inland province of Venicewhich from Martellago will pass through the Brenta Riviera, and then begin the last stretch, which will end in Prato della Valle in Padua.
For the occasion, the arrival in Padua will be preceded by “Pink Week”: a week full of daily events, which will color the city pink, both with themed lighting in the various monuments and historic buildings of Padua, and with exhibitions, shows and meetings in the historic centre.
To accommodate cyclists, the settings have been changed 112 lamps which constitute the central cross of Memmia Island, transforming them into the color that characterizes the Giro d’Italia.
Furthermore, they will also be positioned along the roads traveled by the pink caravan 500 baskets of waste of the same colour. These will be found in via Facciolati, via Stoppato, via Manzoni, via Cavazzana and in Prato della Valle.
Next, stop in Vicenza
After resting in Prato della Valle, the cyclists will move on on May 24, 2024 to Mortegliano in the province of Udine (Friuli. Venezia Giulia), to begin a long stretch 157km and height difference of 2,850 m. After an initial flat part, the route will take them to face the final climb to Sappada (Udine), where the stage will end.
Returning from Friuli, the 20th stage of the Giro will return to Veneto on the day of Saturday 25 May 2024but this time it will be the Province of Vicenza to be at the center of the race.
