A small dog was attacked by a 7-year-old pitbull: the event happened last weekend in the area between Gabelletta and Maratta, in Terni. The latter – we learn – jumped out of the fence of his home, biting and fatally wounding the little dog that was with his owner. The woman did not suffer any physical consequences, although she was shocked by the incident which came to the attention of the staff of the complex veterinary public health structure of the Umbria 2 local health authority, directed by Doctor Luca Nicola Castiglione. The inspection, conducted by doctors Sveva Magnanelli and Fabio Bellucci, revealed some elements resulting in prescriptions imposed by the health authority on the pit bull’s owners. Which, in the meantime, according to what was verified by the employees of the Umbria 2 Local Health Authority for the assessment of the veterinarians’ competence, was found to be in excellent condition, well kept and not aggressive towards humans. Regarding what is imposed, it ranges from the ban on letting the animal leave the house until the fences are able to contain it, to following a training/educational path reserved for the dog and obtaining specific insurance. Failure to comply may lead to the animal being admitted to a health shelter.
