This is the press release issued by the Municipality of Caserta: “The Ztl (limited traffic zone) in San Leucio and Vaccheria will start in June. A gate will be located in Via Vaccheria in San Leucio, at number 35, that is – yes law – in the immediate vicinity of the climb that leads to the San Leucio Belvedere. It will be active until mid-October, every day, from 7pm to 6am the following morning. Always in the same period, every day, from 7pm to 6am the following day, the Ztl will be active in the passage of Via Cappuccio, or at the access door to the Vaccheria, the road that leads to Piazza Madonna delle Grazie.

Another passage is that of Via Antonio Planelli, which is the road – he continues – which in San Leucio connects Piazza della Seta to the Monumental Staircase of the Belvedere. The gate will be active until August 31st on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays during the week, from 8pm to 3am. In the event of events scheduled at the Belvedere di San Leucio, the Municipality reserves the right to activate the gate, allowing passage only to vehicles authorized by the Local Police.

All those who intend to request access to the Ztl can fill out the form on the website of the Municipality of Caserta, at the following link: https://www.comune.caserta.it/archivio10_notizie_0_3801.html.

“This is – explained the Mayor of Caserta, Carlo Marino – a measure that is part of a vast program that envisages the creation of an increasingly green city that is in step with the times. On the mobility front, a real revolution is underway: we have completely renovated and eco-sustainable local public transport, we are creating 18 km of cycle paths and making many ecological means of transport available to citizens, thanks to the ‘Smart City’ project. We are investing a lot and, within a few years, we will complete a major modernization process.”

“This measure – added the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Mobility, Emiliano Casale – constitutes a further step in the sustainable mobility project. We have installed scooters throughout the city, electric charging platforms, 52 new e-bikes, battery-powered scooters and another 30 charging stations for electric vehicles are on the way. In addition to all this, we will also soon install cameras, which will ensure safety, as well as prevent accidents. We are implementing an exceptional program, which will help to completely transform our city’s mobility system.”

“For San Leucio and Vaccheria – declared the municipal councilor delegated for the area, Donato Tenga – it is a very important provision, which comes at the end of a fruitful discussion that took place in recent months with the residents, at the end of which we accepted their requests . The inhabitants of these two historic districts of the city have the right to rest and tranquility and the establishment of the Ztl will also be very useful for protecting these magnificent places, which constitute a fundamental part of the artistic-cultural heritage of our community””.
