“The Region evaluated very positively the work done, the attention to the environment and the long-term vision that emerged from a territory that has been practicing planning and managing LEADER resources since 2002”, remarked the Director Giusy Botti. “In 2023, in addition to the nomination and approval of the 2023-2027 PSL, the LAG worked on completing the 2014-2022 PSL by assigning the last resources to LEADER Cooperation projects and strategic initiatives such as the thematic AQST with the Lombardy Region. The interventions financed by the PSL 14-22 will all be implemented by June, we are monitoring all the beneficiaries to achieve the expected objectives.”
In the seven-year period just concluded, work has been done to improve the existing situation, in continuity with the investments started since LEADER 2000-2006. The mayors and members of the Oglio Po GAL signed the important document BikeFriendly memorandum of understanding which identified a common plan and governance for the creation of cycle paths within the territory. In the last PSL alone there were 18 interventions to improve the road system dedicated to two wheels. Added to this are 14 architectural assets and places of identity recovered, regenerated and made more efficient.
The recovery of the structures often coincided with the opening of new services or the improvement of existing ones, as occurred in 49 interventions which donated libraries, museums, clinics, sports centers and multipurpose rooms to Oglio Po, as well as necessary tools to optimize the services offered to citizens.
A separate speech was made by the President Domenico Maschi for the Rural Destinations project which led to the creation of a logo that unites the entire area between the Oglio and Po rivers: “We created and registered this logo with the ambition and desire that it become a shared and identifying sign of a specific territory. We invite municipalities and associations to request it for the creation of events and initiatives, as well as local producers for the promotion of products and services. If we want the world to know us as Oglio Po, we must be the first to recognize ourselves in this denomination and support it”.
New tenders will arrive in the coming months which, as indicated by the Lombardy Region, will cover two specific macro-areas: Ecosystem services, biodiversity, natural resources and landscape and Services, Goods, collective and inclusive spaces.
