SIENA. From Potere al Popolo we receive and publish.

“After 7 months of incessant mobilizations, the Siena Palestine Committee has reached the seventh day of “acampada” in front of the Mattioli Center of the University of Siena. It is already an extraordinary result, because we have managed to connect our city to the wave of student demonstrations, which from American campuses is crossing all Western countries and has spread like wildfire in our country too.

The claims made are fair and directed to the heart of the problem: the complicity of Western countries in the genocidal violence perpetrated by “Israel” against the Palestinian people. This complicity permeates every aspect of society, first and foremost the university institutions, which through the agreements in place with Israeli universities and the war chain actively contribute to apartheid, occupation and ethnic cleansing in the territories of Palestine.

Terminating this agreement is fundamental, just as it is fundamental to isolate the Zionist state from an economic, diplomatic and military point of view.

As Potere al Popolo Siena and its province we have put ourselves at the service of the Committee from day one, trying to make our contribution and supporting the actions in every way. Even today, our solidarity and our strengths are at the service of the students, technical, administrative and teaching staff who actively participate in the “acampada” in front of the Mattioli Polo. We are united with the students and we are grateful to them for the extraordinary work in support of the Palestinian cause that they have carried out in recent months and which they are carrying out on a daily basis.

Palestine needs everyone. He needs it now. We invite the citizens of Siena and the province to go to the “acampada” in front of the Mattioli Polo, tomorrow and in the next few days, to bring solidarity and put pressure on the rectors of Unisi and Unistrasi, who are asked to discuss the matter with the Committee of the academic boycott”.
