In Venice Miriam Montani with “Caught by a Disturbance”

No Default inaugurates the ninth edition of its exhibition project “wɪndǝʊ”, presenting “Colta da un Turbamento”, curated by Miriam Montani; the exhibition opened on May 17th at the Cadiani cultural center in Venice and will be open to visitors until June 3rd.

Behind the apparent tranquility of the works on display, lies a profound journey into contemporary anxieties and concerns, just as suggested by the title itself. Miriam Montani, known for her ability to transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences, returns with a project that becomes the spokesperson for burning and intensely personal issues. The exhibition is conceived as a progression through three main installations: “Traps”, “The Feast”, and “The Sighted (in a Dream)”, each rich in symbolism and emotional intensity. “Traps”, the first of the three installations, it evokes the sense of claustrophobia, a problem that afflicts many people, creating discomfort for them.

The work offers an opportunity to reflect on individual freedom and the struggle to escape the constraints imposed by society. “The Feast”, on the other hand, explores the deterioration of the physical body, presenting an almost apocalyptic vision of the human being consumed by his own needs and desires. Finally, “The sighted (in a dream)” transports us to a world where sleep, instead of providing rest and escape from the worries of the day, becomes the scene of nightmares and disturbances, reflecting the anxieties of the artist and the world around her. Montani’s sensitivity in outlining these scenarios with a hand as expert as it is subtle opens a window not only on his life and experiences in Venice, but also on the universal anxieties of the modern human being. Each piece, enriched by the artist’s personal relationship with insects and sleep, draws the viewer into a visual narrative where it is impossible not to reflect on oneself and one’s context. The exhibition will be further enriched by the performance “Martini”, directed by Elena Maria Antonello.

This representation promises to be a perfect complement to the exhibition, promising to guide the public through a wide spectrum of emotions and reflections. “Caught by a Disturbance” is therefore an artistic commitment of great importance, an appointment for those who wish to immerse themselves in the depths of the psyche. human and face the challenges it imposes. An artistic exploration which, once again, underlines how art can be a powerful means for investigating and commenting on human and social reality.
