Lamezia Terme – Engines running. In fact, the “Calabria Evolutioni Kart Day – 1st Daniel Villella Memorial” initiative has started. A day dedicated to go karts in memory of Daniel Villella, a 39-year-old who lost his life in September 2020 in a road accident between Amato and Marcellinara. The event is organized by the “Calabria Evolution kart” sports association with the patronage of the municipality of Lamezia Terme. The details of the event were revealed during a press conference held in recent days in the Luisi room of the municipality. The sporting event is underway and affects various streets of the city such as viale Don Luigi Costanzo and between via Leonardo da Vinci and Cristoforo Colombo. “The intent of the event – highlight the organizers – is to promote karting and its peculiarities, offering all fans of the sector to meet and spend two days dedicated to the adrenaline-filled passion for Go-Karts ”. Having started this morning, the Memorial will end in the afternoon with the awards ceremony.
Changes to road traffic between via Da Vinci and Colombo
Considering that the sports promotion event attracts numerous participants from all over the territory, the Municipality has arranged temporary changes to road traffic:
“The temporary establishment of a traffic and parking ban with forced removal for all categories of vehicles with the exception of Police and Emergency vehicles and those supporting the organisation, on Viale Don Luigi Costanzo, in the stretch between ‘intersection with Via L. da Vinci and the intersection with Via C. Colombo, from 08.00 on Saturday 18 May to 18.00 on Sunday 19 May 2024; In the adjacent, confluent and bordering streets affected by the Event and, if necessary, on other roads and/or streets not included in this provision, traffic will be limited and/or diverted according to needs and according to the directives issued by the Headquarters of the Local Police, for the purposes of safety of vehicular and pedestrian traffic; As far as parking vehicles is concerned, participants and spectators will be able to use the parking areas identified in the Evacuation Plan; Police, ambulance and emergency vehicles will be allocated in the places provided for in the ‘Management and Emergency’ plan”.
Furthermore, “the manager of the sports club is obliged to scrupulously comply with the following requirements: to guarantee, with his own personnel equipped with bracelets or other clothing with identification marks, adequate surveillance of the entire route with particular reference to the areas in where the public stops and at road intersections; that the safety provisions that will be adopted are made known to the public in good time, with the exact indication of the start and end of the competition; maximum publicity is given to the event in order to communicate its progress to users also through the media; the protection of the road, appurtenances, signs and related artefacts is guaranteed and no damage is caused to the aesthetics of the streets and the ecological economy of the places affected by the event or stickers are placed on the road signs; at the end of the event all signs, gazebos, equipment and posters present in the area must be removed, restoring the pre-existing state of the places; to promptly notify the PL Command of any emerging needs related to the safety of pedestrian and vehicular traffic”.
