MARTINSICURO. The return of the works on the first stretch of seafront in Martinsicuro, the northern area, which goes from the Las Palmas roundabout to the intersection with Via delle Lampare, was carried out on Wednesday 15th May, and which had its baptism on Thursday 16th with a real bathroom of crowd at the start of the stage of the Giro d’Italia cycling. Now, however, once the Giro effect has passed, the redevelopment of the northern seafront must be completed and in particular the work on the other lot already contracted and started, that of Villa Rosa, must be accelerated.
Says the vice mayor and councilor for public works Monica Persiani: «The street furniture is still missing but the new stretch of walk is usable and we are happy and satisfied with the final result. These last few days have been hectic, made even more frenetic by the preparations for the stage of the Giro d’Italia. Our goal was to be ready for this important event, and despite some unforeseen events, that was the case. We had to concentrate almost all the company’s work resources in the Martinsicuro stretch, certain that this event would be a unique and unrepeatable postcard for our territory”. In the northern area of Martinsicuro some finishing touches are missing, such as the green coloring of the cycle path, which is now only asphalted, benches and some lighting. Persiani continues: «From today (yesterday, ndc) work resumed immediately in the hamlet, with the aim of making the Villa Rosa promenade usable for the upcoming summer season.” Now therefore the works are concentrated in Villa Rosa after the workers of the Teramo company which had been awarded the two stretches of seafront had all been diverted to Martinsicuro to complete the works for the start of the cycling stage. «In the hamlet», adds Monica Persiani, «the highlight of the new seafront will certainly be the roundabout at the intersection with via Filzi. A roundabout that will be a “Balcony overlooking the sea” with lights, plants and furnishings with works that are more complex than in Martinsicuro which will make the place fundamental for the tourist growth of the hamlet”.
«The two new stretches of seafront», the opinion of the tourism delegate Umberto Barcaroli, «will make our town increasingly attractive to tourists. At the start of the stage we received compliments for the work not only from the residents but also from the many two-wheel lovers from different areas of both Abruzzo and the Marche. I take this opportunity to thank all the citizens, the associations, the shopkeepers who have adorned the town making it wonderful.”
