SULMONA FUTSAL AMAZING, 6-2 VICTORY IN THE FIRST PLAYOFF SEMI-FINAL

by Domenico Verlingieri – Sulmona Futsal wins an overwhelming 6-2 victory against Cures in the first leg semi-final of the Serie A2 playoffs. An exciting match full of twists and turns that took place at the Montopoli di Sabina arena.

A promising start

Sulmona’s start was encouraging, even if the first danger was created by the locals with Ramazio, whose shot ended up on the outside of the net. The turning point came with Dominioni, who broke the deadlock by hitting the net with a precise right-footed shot. Sulmona goalkeeper Berardi then shone with a very stylish save.

Opportunities and responses

Picco hit the outside of the net for Sulmona, followed by a speeding chance by Patricelli, which was thwarted by the opposing goalkeeper. Cures responded with Troiano, who hit the post. Cures’ equalizer came thanks to an unfortunate own goal by Severo, who saw the ball hit the inside post to Berardi’s left. Shortly afterwards, Ramazio and Maresca had further chances, with the latter hitting the post.

Cures’ advantage and Sulmona’s reaction

Cures took the lead with a precise right-footed shot from Carmosino, taking the lead 2-1. At the end of the first half, Sulmona had a great chance with Severo, who hit the crossbar. In the second half, Sulmona continued to push, creating a great opportunity in the first moments, but Melillo saved on the line.

Comeback and dominance of Sulmona

Sulmona equalized with Di Matteo, who scored into the far corner. Severo hit the post again, but it was Dominioni who gave Sulmona the lead with a precise diagonal. Cures attempted to respond with the goalkeeper, but Di Matteo hit the post from distance.

The hat-trick from Dominioni and Di Matteo

Maresca, the Cures goalkeeper, made miraculous saves, but was unable to stop Sulmona’s fury. Dominioni scored twice more, completing a personal hat-trick. Captain Di Matteo scored two more goals, first with a lob and then with an empty net, closing the match 6-2 for Sulmona Futsal.
