I thought about it a lot before accepting the job because this time, compared to twelve years ago, the sense of responsibility I have towards the city and towards the fans is enormous. President Marino initially offered me a three-year contract, but I said that I will try immediately for the first year, then I will try for the second, but if I don’t succeed in two years then I will be the one to leave, because my goal is to immediately win promotion to Serie A. Then if things go well I will be happy to extend the contract and stay in Brindisi with my family. We want to be protagonists of the championship and we are ready to face this new challenge.

It is a very competitive championship, with many good teams who are very strong and who want to win promotion to Serie A. It will be a very long, tiring championship, which will feature 20 teams. 38 battles await us to face, with 8 weekly rounds and it’s as if we were playing a European cup. We will need a very deep team, capable of withstanding the many difficulties that the championship will throw at us, a fresh team from an athletic point of view, but also a little mature and tough mentally. As for the two American players, I don’t yet know what role they will position themselves in. It is essential to get the Italian players first, good ones if possible. I believe that the point guard will be American and we are already working in this direction.
