A coffee, or rather a breakfast, with Andrew Virgil. The centre-left mayoral candidate began his visit to the Cremonese bars yesterday morning (Friday) from the Po district in view of the final sprint of the electoral campaign. Appointment at Belsit in via Oglio to inaugurate a long list of bars that the current deputy mayor, together with some candidate councilors of the coalition, intends to visit from now until next 8-9 June. Waiting for him, punctually at 8.30 in the morning, were about twenty of his ‘supporters’ who filled the outdoor area of the bar for a good hour, before going to work.
The meeting at Belsit allowed the mayoral candidate to meet some citizens, explaining to them the projects and actions included in the electoral program, designed for the neighborhood.
“It was a nice opportunity to meet those who live or work in
this area, to collect their reports, their suggestions,
to open an informal discussion on everyday needs – has
Virgil explained. – We have illustrated the urban regeneration projects, such as the interventions in the public housing in Via Vecchia and Via Valdipado, the interventions in the parks, the hydraulic ones in Via Monviso and the actions carried out on the roads”.
In the coming years, attention will be concentrated, looking at school buildings, on the new Children’s Centre, the third, which will be built in via dei Classici in place of the Martiri della Libertà school declared unfit for use. Then there will be the planning of the works for the bridge over the Morbasco.
Not just ideas and good intentions of course. Meeting in bars will have to
serve by also placing emphasis on those actions that will need to be reviewed or re-proposed in a more effective way.
The first to play fair, however, in this case, is Virgil himself.”Some citizens have given us suggestions on local public transport to improve connections and better connect the neighborhood to the key points of the city. Others asked for more attention on the maintenance of the streets, in particular Viale Po”.
The tour of the bars will continue next week: the stages will be announced from time to time in the press and on the social pages of the mayoral candidate. Which, for the record, will offer hood and brioche for everyone.
