Benevento

The hardest week of this season from a physical point of view (endless journey, complicated match, no rest) has been metabolised. Auteri puts his face to it and says that the trip certainly wasn’t a problem: “After all it wasn’t uncomfortable, in fact it was acceptable and very well organised.” And so, with the exception of Pastina, injured, Pinato, disqualified, and the young Nunziante (who was in retreat with the Under 17s, but will not make the European Championship: Giangregorio in his place), the other 27 are all called up for the return match against Triestina. There is also Terranova, who has just set foot on the pitch again and has only carried out differentiated training sessions: “He asked to come with us, he wants to be together with his teammates”, says the Floridia coach. Nice gesture.

It is clear that the starting eleven is still in Gaetano Auteri’s mind and that only tomorrow morning, after the finishing session, will we know more.

Don Tano says that he has doubts, because everyone has shown that they are well and that the choices are not simple. “Trieste’s mistakes? We have analyzed them internally. But I think that in the end that first half left a vision that was a little different from reality. Ultimately we suffered from the conceded goal and struggled a bit. But tomorrow’s is another match…”.

THE DOUBTS. Meccariello is well and has been very useful to Rocco, but Auteri remains confidential about his use of him: he is still afraid that it could have repercussions due to the injury: “If it had been a championship match, it would have been different. But this is a tough challenge, we can’t make mistakes.” On the other hand, he trusts Viscardi: “He trains like a great guy: he’s a 2004 player who perhaps doesn’t even know the qualities he has yet.” The impression is that the “boy” from Palermo is still leaving, with Meccariello ready to take over if necessary.

In midfield he will end up confirming Talia and Nardi, who also didn’t play a great game in Trieste. Their first alternative is certainly Agazzi, but the two of them are favorites to take the field. The wingers are not discussed: Improta on the right, Simonetti on the left, even if Masciangelo is fine. Riccardino should be paired on the right in the offensive phase with Amato Ciciretti: in Trieste when they were called to play together the lights came back on. Of the other two roles in the attack, one is the prerogative of Eric Lanini, the other is to be assigned. We need to fill the void left by Pinato, perhaps with small variables in his characteristics: Ferrante didn’t inspire, Perlingieri can come in handy once the game has started: what if he were to Starita? Auteri does not rule it out, the former Monopoly as a false nine could be ideal in certain respects. Not the physical ones of Pinato, but of pace and sacrifice. It could be his turn, hoping that it’s finally his turn.
