Ugl drivers’ strike in local public transport in Latina, 35% of workers joined

Approximately 35% of the drivers of the local public transport service have joined the strike called by Ugl Autoferro, even if the percentage of evening shifts is still missing.

In fact, the strike began this morning and will only end tomorrow. As regards the number of trips, however, given that the guarantee bands have obviously been covered, the percentage stands at a stop of 10-12%.

A strike called weeks ago and for which the union was not summoned: «We are amazed that neither the company nor the Municipality summoned us to listen to our reasons», explains the Ugl category secretary Giuliano Errico.

«After the unsuccessful meeting in the Prefecture, no one contacted us again, yet we were clear about our proposals. And it’s not so much the lack of notice, it’s the practice that amazes us because usually the organization that calls the strike is called and listened to, considering that we have always collaborated to try to find a solution to the workers’ problems”, explains Errico.

But what are the reasons for the strike? «We cannot rely only on the verbal commitments of the company and the Municipality regarding regional funding which, however, has not yet arrived. In recent years too many agreements have been signed and not respected. Therefore, without concrete facts in front of us, we are going on strike.”
