On Thursday 16 May, at the Hotel Plaza in Caserta, the solemn “Hippocratic Oath Ceremony” took place, a significant event that marks the beginning of the professional career for numerous young doctors and dentists in the province. At 4.00 pm, the new members of the Provincial Order of Surgeons and Dentists of Caserta took a solemn oath before the Board of Directors of the Order.
The ceremony saw the participation of 221 doctors and 17 dentists, all ready to formally commit to respecting the ethical and deontological principles of the profession. The reading of the oath was carried out by three volunteers, drawn among the new members, who led the group in pronouncing the words “I swear” in unison.
Carlo Manzi, president of the Provincial Order of Surgeons and Dentists of Caserta, expressed his pride and emotion: «This year 221 doctors and 17 dentists from the province of Caserta will take the oath. I am extremely honored and excited because as president I will have the duty to welcome and initiate many young colleagues into the profession. The oath represents an obligatory rite of initiation into the thousand-year-old profession. It summarizes the deontological and ethical principles according to which a doctor must act, even outside the professional context.”
The “Hippocratic Oath Ceremony” is not just a formal ritual, but a moment full of symbolism and meaning. It represents the assumption of a moral and professional responsibility towards patients and the community, committing to practice the profession with conscience, dignity and humanity.
This oath marks the beginning of a journey that will see these young professionals committed to improving the health and well-being of the community, guided by the values they have just solemnly promised to respect.
