The delivery ceremony of the Constitution of the Italian Republic to the newly eighteen-year-olds attending city schools took place yesterday, Thursday 16 May at the Guglielmi Theatre.
The ceremony which took place in the presence of the mayor Francesco Persiani and the councilor for culture Monica Bertoneri was organized in collaboration with the teachers in charge of the various high schools in the city and with the active participation of the students of the Felice Palma high school who performed in various musical interludes directed by maestro Paolo Biancalana and by the professors: Maria Simona Cianchi for singing; Alessandro Raspolini and Massimo Montaldi for the guitar performances; Francesca Corsi for the saxophonist ensemble.

For many children in the city, this year over 450, the event celebrates their fateful 18th birthday in the school year and the Administration, as a tangible sign of their formal entry among adults, chooses to give each one a copy of the Constitution. The values ​​and principles contained in it are, as underlined by the mayor Francesco Persiani “the cornerstones on which our entire society rests and from which we all have the task of drawing inspiration in carrying out our daily actions”. During the ceremony the mayor recommended that the children not only read our ‘fundamental charter’ but also put its rights and duties into practice ‘because – he underlined – the Constitution is the foundation of our society, a set of values ​​and principles that they guide us towards a just and harmonious coexistence”
The ceremony of handing over the Constitution to the newly eighteen-year-olds is a now consolidated appointment of the municipal administration, a symbolic gesture made with the hope that each of the young people who receives it will be able to direct their lives and their choices while maintaining the values ​​of democracy and solidarity. proper to our constitutional charter.
