In recent days, the Green Basques of the Guardia di Finanza of Como, during a road check aimed at combating illicit trafficking, stopped a car with a Spanish license plate in Appiano Gentile. There were three individuals on board the vehicle: two Spaniards and a Croatian. Suspicious of their nervousness and the lack of luggage, the financiers proceeded to inspect the vehicle, discovering a few grams of marijuana inside, around 28,500 euros in cash and a shipping receipt for a package coming from Malaga and destined for Legnano .
In light of the elements collected and in the belief that the package contained another narcotic substance, the military promptly informed the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Como. The Como Judicial Authority, having taken over the investigation, ordered an in-depth investigation of the situation and requested the identification of the recipient of the package. The financiers then intercepted the shipment arriving in Italy via courier and, at the latter’s warehouses, after having confirmed the presence of the narcotic substance with the help of canine units, they opened the package and found 10 kg of marijuana. With the authorization of the Como Prosecutor’s Office, the Green Basques disguised themselves as couriers and organized a “controlled delivery”.
The financier-couriers went to the recipient’s address indicated on the package, located in Legnano. Upon accepting the package, they arrested the recipient and seized the entire quantity of drugs. Subsequently, the Green Basques searched the arrested man’s home, finding a further 20 grams of narcotic substance already divided into sachets and ready for sale, as well as packaging material, a digital scale, an agenda, a smartphone, two sim card and 300 euros in cash. The arrested man, of Albanian origin, appears to reside in Italy without carrying out any work activity. Upon order of the Judicial Authority of Busto Arsizio, the arrested person was taken to the Busto Arsizio prison.
