They run away from home, the Sinhalese host them, then the nightmare: 13 year olds segregated and raped in Treviso

A chilling story that comes from Treviso, where a Sinhalese 49-year-old was recently convicted of locking up and sexually abusing two girls to whom he had offered hospitality. The matter has been much debated.

The reconstruction

According to reports from Gazzettinowhich followed the judicial case, the event occurred in Conegliano (Treviso) and dates back to 2020, to be precise on the night between 11 and 12 November 2020. The victims, two friends who at the time had 13 years, they had run away from home but didn’t know where to stay, so the stranger had offered to host them. The two, in fact, had known the subject for some time and for this reason they had turned to him.

The 49-year-old, who worked as a pizza chef in a local restaurant, had also transformed his own garage in a bedroom for the two girls and welcomed them. According to the version reported by the prosecution, that night the man offered drugs to the minors, including marijuana and other narcotic substances. Then, after locking them in the garage, he raped them. According to the young women, the 49-year-old would have forced them to undergo sexual intercourse: otherwise, he would not have let them leave the garage.

The very young girls subsequently managed to leave and return home. The families, not seeing them return, had meanwhile turned to the Conegliano police station to lodge a formal complaint. Hence the police investigations, which ended with thearrest of the Sinhalese, which occurred in 2021.

The sentence

The accused was recently condemned to 4 years and 8 months in prison for sexual assault. The prosecutor Mara De Donà had asked for 6 years and 4 months, but the investigating judge of Treviso Piera De Stefani granted the mitigating circumstances. In fact, acquittal for the charge of drug supply. In fact, a search carried out inside the garage revealed no traces of narcotic substances. However, the Sri Lankan will have to pay both girls 35 thousand euros in compensation.

The facts must be interpreted as they actually happened. First of all, the two 13-year-olds violated the anti-Covid legislation which prevented circulation at 11pm. They also turned to my client who they knew by fame and reputation. Furthermore, the two girls woke up the next morning around midday and headed to the Biscione where they found themselves with some peers”, the Sri Lankan’s defense lawyer declared in his speech. “Everything was set in motion by the parents of the 13-year-olds who, not seeing them return home, had filed a missing persons report. I don’t deny that the events occurred, but they must be interpreted correctly.”he added.

It is probable that the lawyer decides to present appeal.
