A walk organized by Sebastian Vettel brought all the drivers to the track to remember the Brazilian and the Austrian 30 years later
Thursday of the 2024 Emilia Romagna GP was the day of remembrance of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger before the start of the activities on the track.
Urged by Sebastian Vettel, present in Imola to lap with the 1993 McLaren MP4/8, all the drivers in the paddock (including the young F2 and F3 drivers) gathered on the starting grid to remember the Brazilian and the Austrian at thirty years after their tragic death in the 1994 San Marino GP, in a group photo in front of their two helmets.
For the occasion, the drivers wore t-shirts recalling the colors of Senna’s helmet with the “Senna 30 years” logo and personalized, in the case of the F1 drivers, with their race number on one sleeve. The hashtag forever is on the t-shirt. In addition to the t-shirts, there are bracelets with the colors of the Austrian flag and pins to remember Ratzenberger.
After the group photo, the drivers set off for a lap of the track on foot which took them to Tamburello, where there is a statue of Senna, and to the Villeneuve curve, where the Austrian’s accident occurred.
