Wife’s head barred: 83-year-old husband acquitted – Teramo

TERAMO. The medical report ascertained that at the time of the facts he was totally incapable of understanding and wanting: the judge Roberto Veneziano, at the end of an abbreviated trial, acquitted him because he was not attributable. It’s about Antonio Di Salvatorethe 83-year-old pensioner from Montorio initially ended up in prison on charges of attempted murder after injuring his 74-year-old wife with an iron fireplace poker.
Subsequently, the man, who was found to be incompatible with the prison regime for health reasons, was placed under house arrest in a healthcare facility, a healthcare residence for the elderly. The man was defended by the lawyer Eugenio Galassi. The incident occurred in the first days of April last year in Montorio where the elderly couple lived at the time.
The doctors in the emergency room of the Teramo hospital raised the alarm, and above all the first investigations. Immediately after the events, the wife and husband were taken to hospital directly by some family members in a private car.
The man, the doctors told the police of the Teramo company, was in an apparent state of shock; the conscious woman with deep head wounds. Initially she herself had said that she had fallen out of bed, but the tests ordered by the doctors starting from the various CT scans performed had highlighted traumas that immediately appeared not compatible with those of a fall.
Hence the report to the competent authorities who had started the first investigations by collecting the testimony of the couple’s children who live in the same house. Reconstruction which initially had not been easy.
