Benevento, focus in the prefecture on safety on construction sites

Decided to strengthen the coordinated supervisory and control action by the inspection bodies

The working group, established by the prefect Carlo Torlontano as part of the provincial permanent conference, met yesterday at the government building in Benevento to verify compliance with the legislation on safety at work on construction sites.

During the meeting, the data relating to the checks carried out during 2023 at 172 construction sites were examined, which highlighted among the main transgressions the failure to comply with the rules relating to work at heights, work platforms, scaffolding and works provisional and road conditions on site.

Furthermore, an increase in checks carried out on construction sites was recorded, amounting to 75 in the first quarter of the current year, thanks to the recent increase in the number of inspectors assigned in the province.

At the end of the meeting, the usefulness of further strengthening the coordinated supervisory and control action by the various inspection bodies competent in the matter was shared, to increase safety conditions in the workplace and contain the risk of accidents. Similarly, the essential role of spreading the culture of safety at work and the awareness-raising activity aimed at companies and worker training to be promoted, also with information campaigns in schools, was underlined.

The meeting was attended by, among others, the director of the territorial labor inspectorate, the director of the Occupational Hygiene and Medicine service of the local health company, the representatives of INPS, Inail, ANCE and the trade union organisations.
