During the next two weekends in May, Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th and then again on the 25th and 26th, the Castreccioni dam on Lake Cingoli and the Comunanza dam on Lake Gerosa will be open to the public and can be visited.
The initiative, organized by the Marche Reclamation Consortium and ANBI Marche, on the occasion of the NATIONAL CLEANING AND IRRIGATION WEEK promoted by ANBI, will allow everyone, both adults and children, to visit the two Marche reservoirs, discover their history and that set of activities necessary to guarantee its correct and more efficient functioning. Accompanied by the “guardians of the dams, by technicians from the Consortium and – in the case of Cingoli – by a naturalistic guide, the participants will reach the bottom drain, walk along the crown and discover the functioning of the intake system that pushes the water towards the irrigation systems in the area. The view from the crown, usually closed to the public, will certainly leave you breathless. The Comunanza dam, in particular, will be offered to visitors fresh from technical-administrative “testing” and after years of limits imposed by the seismic events of 2016, it will be able to return to its maximum capacity, i.e. 13.5 million cubic meters of water. The visits will end with a nice snack with local products, so as to give substance to the theme of the 2024 Reclamation Week, “water that nourishes”, and which allows sectors such as agriculture and livestock to continue to prosper and bring, on a daily basis, our tables the products of the earth. All initiatives are free and open to an audience of both adults and children. The maximum number for each group is 30 people. It is necessary to register by sending an email to [email protected] indicating the number of participants, in which dam and when, and then reach the Cingoli adventure park on the scheduled date and time, or in the case of Castreccioni, the dam house for Comunanza. SATURDAY 18 – 25 May, morning from 9.30 to 11.30 – afternoon from 3.00 to 5.00 SUNDAY 19 – 26 May, morning ONLY from 9.30 to 11.30.
In case of bad weather, given that the activities are outdoors, the event will be postponed to another useful date.
