PISA – Nothing better to promote sporting activity than ensuring that the various Disciplines are clearly visible and accessible to the widest possible audience, also starting from the lowest age groups, and it is therefore in this perspective that Sunday 19 May 2024 will take place from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at Piazza XX Settembre in Pisa there Provincial Minibasketball Festivalorganized by Italian Basketball Federation Minibasket Pisa with the patronage of Municipality of Pisa and of the Sports Department, whose program was illustrated on Thursday 16 May in the Sala delle Baleari of Palazzo Gambacorti, in the presence of the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Pisa Frida Scarpa and of Simone LandiniFIP Provincial Delegate.

The event is reserved for Eaglets category (born in 2013 and 2014) for a total of approximately 200 children interested and a tournament will take place in 3 against 3 mode on four fields set up in the square with matches lasting between 7 and 8 minutes each, with the names of the participating teams which will be linked to the traditions of Pisan history, one will therefore be called “Tramontana” and the other “Middayo”, and the children will be given a souvenir gadget and the Clubs will be given a team photo to commemorate the event, as well as having full availability of the Public Bathrooms and, in the Logge di Banchi, of an area used as a changing room, while it will be there is also a refreshment point with drinking water, a photo service, a sporting goods stand and also a press point.
Obviously satisfied with the initiative the Sports Councilor Frida Scarpawhich has always had the mandate objective of bringing Sport to the city centre: “On Sunday Piazza XX Settembre will be filled with kids for a Provincial Minibasketball Tournament thanks to which finally, after many years, Basketball returns to the square in our city, becoming the protagonist with four Minibasketball courts where kids born in 2013 and 2014 and therefore of 10 and 11 years in three against three challenges for an event that promises to be very exciting and for the organization of which I feel obliged to thank Acque Spa which will provide 200 water bottles for the participants with a fountain mounted in the aforementioned Piazza. Considering the approaching events of June Pisano“, concludes the Councillor, “it was decided to divide the participating companies into two sectors, called “Tramontana” and “Mezzogiorno” respectively, so as to give a strong reference to the historical traditions of our city, as well as demonstrating our full satisfaction in continuing to place these sporting policies are in place to bring the various disciplines back to the center of citizens’ interests, making them aware of the various activities, as well as, above all, to promote the various associations that carry out irreplaceable work in the area regarding the culture of sport and movement, from which it draws source the psycho-physical well-being of all of us, together with the values of inclusion, integration, aggregation and fun, so that, specifically being a provincial event, Pisa is happy to return to being the protagonist within its territory“.
From a purely organizational point of view, the word goes to FIP Provincial Delegate Simone Landiniwho highlights: “Next Sunday we will have eleven clubs in the square that will compete in the three-on-three mode for the Minibasketball kids born in 2013 and 2014, having also thought of combining this tournament with a sort of “preview” of the Bridge Game by dividing the participating teams between the parties of Tramontana and Mezzogiorno, so that the outcome of each match will bring scores to its Judiciary and then have, at the end of the event, a completely symbolic affirmation of one of the two parties. The conduct of this mini Tournament“, concludes Landini, “will see the teams play matches lasting 7/8 minutes on a field with a single basket, facing each other in a sort of single round, with the hope that the event will attract the public as much as possible, as rest we have had the opportunity to ascertain in past years with many families involved in a show that is not too competitive and therefore can only be a pleasure to see the children having fun, as well as representing a promotional showcase for Basketball which, especially for Pisa, is never important, given that it had been many years since this event had been organized in the square in our city, a circumstance for which I can only thank the Municipality’s Sports Department“.
