Construction sites on the Ferrara-mare, one lane only on weekdays

Traffic reduced to one lane towards Ferrara on several sections of the highway, but only on weekdays. This is what emerges from the extraordinary meeting of the extraordinary Operational Committee for Roads, coordinated by the prefect Massimo Marchesiello, which was held in the Prefecture in Ferrara to share with the territory (the president of the Province of Ferrara, the mayors of the municipalities involved, the forces of order and trade associations), the plan for the various construction sites present along the “Ferrara – Porto Garibaldi” motorway junction.

The objective of the meeting was to define any further actions to be undertaken for the summer period, “in order to minimize the impacts on road users – explains a note from Anas -, without penalizing the productivity of the redevelopment interventions of the route, essential for improving general safety conditions”.

In fact, further repaving interventions have recently been started for a total investment of over 2.8 million euros. These works will mainly affect the roadway towards Ferrara and will be completed by mid-June. “To carry out the work – states Anas – it will be necessary to establish temporary restrictions, for sections no longer than 3 kilometres, exclusively on weekdays, preserving the holidays and days before holidays”.

The works are part of the broader redevelopment plan of the Raccordo which, in the last four years, has seen a total investment of approximately 30 million euros, of which approximately over 26 have already been carried out. Added to these investments is another approximately 5 million euros, which have already been included in the latest Program Contract proposal and will be started subsequently.

Approximately 40 kilometers of route have already been redeveloped and work is currently being completed on another 12 kilometres. Work will soon start on another 25 kilometres, bringing the overall progress of the Plan to 80% with the main critical issues having already been resolved.

The redevelopment plan, in addition to the paving, involved the bridges and viaducts for over 17 million euros, the replacement of safety barriers for 5.8 million euros, the creation of new horizontal and vertical signs for 2.3 million euros and another 1.5 million complementary works. Of these, approximately 5 million works have already been carried out and another 5 are in progress, while other interventions worth approximately 3.5 million euros are soon to be started.

Among the main active construction sites it is worth mentioning those relating to the “Campolungo” viaducts (km 26,310), the overpass at km 23,400, and the “Rovereto” viaduct (km 19,876). To limit the inconvenience of summer traffic, the active restrictions on these construction sites will be removed by the third week of June, with the exception of that relating to the “Rovereto” viaduct, which will be closed by the second week of July. Unless the works are definitively completed, the limitations will be reactivated from September.

In the coming weeks it will also be necessary to start the first phase of the restoration work on the “Pallotta” flyover (km 42+300), damaged on 9 April last by the passage of an out-of-gauge load. The damaged part of the deck will be dismantled by June.

“Along the road – adds the Agency – there may be temporary construction sites for recurring activities, such as maintenance of greenery and repairs of safety barriers, which will be carried out always avoiding the periods of maximum summer attendance”.
