There are 94 boats registered for the 2024 Tre Golfi Regatta, which will leave from Naples tomorrow at 4.45pm on Friday 17 May to compete with the 170 mile route of one of the most famous and ancient offshore regattas held in the Mediterranean .
Not only Italian boats and sailors, given that in the fleet there will also be three French teams, two Austrians, one from the Czech Republic, one from Germany, one from Bulgaria, Greece and Belgium.
A rather varied fleet also in terms of boat length, with entries ranging from 30 to 90 feet. Speaking of 90 feet, one of the boats to monitor for the real-time victory of the regatta will be Andrea Recordati’s Wally 90 Bullitt, already winner in IRC overall of the last Rolex Middle Sea Race.
The Tre Golfi, however, is run in ORC, and is also one of the races valid for the Italian Offshore Championship, which brings together the main Italian offshore races and the boats taking part in them in a ranking.
The charm of the Tre Golfi Regatta also arises from its route: the departure from the Gulf of Naples, which once took place at midnight and has now been moved to the afternoon, is one of the unique emotions of this regatta.
The route then winds through the passage of Ischia, which can be left on the starboard or left, and that of Ponza, this on the left. The descent then begins towards the Scoglio de Li Galli, just south of Capri, before arriving which this year returns to the Gulf of Naples.
Ultimately, a regatta that all enthusiasts want to do at least once, with a route with incomparable scenery and a difficulty that allows the more technical crews to get excited and the less experienced ones to still be able to participate by comparing themselves with one of the queen tests of sailing Italian highland.
The broader program of the Tre golfi Sailing Week also includes, in addition to the offshore test that we have told you about, the ORC Mediterranean Championship held in Sorrento last week and the Maxi European Championship which begins with the Tre Golfi Regatta and will continue with the tests between the buoys in the following days.
