In the presence of the Rectors, the General Directors, the delegates of the southern universities, the teachers, the students, and the technical-administrative staff involved in various capacities, it took place in the Aula Magna “A. Quistelli” of“Mediterranea” University of Reggio Calabria the information meeting entitled “University Accreditation and AVA 3 model”. The adoption of the AVA 3 model represents a significant step forward for the Italian university systemaimed at guaranteeing quality training, a strong social and territorial impact, and growing internationalisation.

The event opened with a greeting from the Rector Giuseppe Zimbalatti. Speakers included Antonio Felice Uricchio, president of ANVUR (National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System), Massimo Tronci, Member of the ANVUR Board of Directors, Alessio Ancaiani, Manager of the Evaluation Area of ​​Higher Education Institutions, Antonio Romeo, General Director of Mediterranea .

The meeting was a moment of discussion on the new self-assessment models of universities and evaluation for periodic accreditation. Last year, ANVUR started a series of meetings with all universities, with a series of territorial presentations, with the aim of supporting the academic world in the self-evaluation process. The meeting at the Mediterranea in Reggio Calabria allowed for a constructive discussion both on the quality assurance of training activities and on the quality assurance of research. This was an important step forward, to encourage the growth of the system with a better use of resources and promotion, as well as the growth of students and all staff, both teachers and administrative technicians and librarians.

The Rector Zimbalatti declares: “It was a very important day for the Mediterranean University, an opportunity to share a whole series of issues related to the accreditation of universities – continues – this year we are activating two new three-year degree courses, Motor Sciences and Sports Law and Mechanical Engineering, which enrich our training offer with the aim of understanding the needs of the territory, also looking with interest at the Mediterranean basin” .
