How much has the Church’s communication changed in recent decades? The Council is also central to this and will be discussed on Friday 17 May at 5.30 pm in the Hall of the Archbishop’s Palace in Lucca at the meeting entitled: «From Paul VI to Francis, technology and heart for fully human communication».

The occasion for this in-depth study comes from the presentation of the book by journalist Angelo Scelzo «From the Council to the web. Vatican communication and the turning point of the reform” (Libreria Editrice Vaticana, 2023).

A lifetime in the world of journalism, Scelzo saw the Vatican’s communications machine from inside, thanks to his service at «L’Osservatore Romano» and then in the Vatican Press Office and in the Pontifical Council for Social Communications. The Archdiocese of Lucca with Toscana Oggi and Ucsi-Toscana (Italian Catholic Press Union of Tuscany), therefore invite you to participate in this moment of reflection, which will be introduced by greetings from Archbishop Paolo Giulietti.

Then Domenico Mugnaini, director of Toscana Oggi, the weekly newspaper of the Tuscan dioceses, will interview the author of the book.

There is also anticipation for the expected connection with the Jesuit Fr. Federico Lombardi director of the Vatican Press Office from 2006 to 2016, under the pontificates of Benedict XVI and Francis.
