“We offer work solutions and strategy”

L’AQUILA – “We propose urgent working solutions and given the silence of the administration, we put forward concrete and practicable proposals. Thus all the centre-left groups in the press conference opened by councilor Enrico Verini and which saw the intervention of councilors Stefano Albano, Stefania Pezzopane, Stefano Palumbo, Paolo Romano, Gianni Padovani, Simona Giannangeli, Elia Serpetti and Alessandro Tomassoni –

We cannot wait any longer, we have been raising the alarm for months, the unions have been looking for a dialogue with the administration for some time and the Mayor has so far not considered meeting them. As the centre-left, we have today deposited a first document of proposals which we will bring to the extraordinary municipal council on 30 May which we have requested for some time. Not only that, our motion will be further enriched after listening to all the actors (mayor and council, CTGSI, unions, etc.) which we will hold on Monday 20th in the meeting of the first commission, which we also requested, tired of inconclusive words.

The situation is dramatic for workers and for the future of the ski resort blocked by inertia and underestimations. Among our proposals, we ask the mayor and the council to commit to: activating an immediate review of the service contract between the Municipality of L’Aquila and the Tourist Centre, modifying the terms currently in force, now outdated by the situation we are experiencing; to provide for the inclusion of further activities in the revised contract, among those managed by the organization but not carried out on its own, which can offer workers the opportunity to provide their work by compensating all the services no longer necessary until the full functionality of the company is restored cable car; to arrange alternatively and/or simultaneously with the above measures, the use of commands (or other forms of mobility) of CTGS workers, towards the Municipality of L’Aquila and/or other municipal SpA, compatibly with their needs and with the the classification held by the workers; to quickly activate a union consultation with the trade union representatives of the CTGS workers to activate all the contractual “harmonization” tools required by law and necessary for the purposes indicated by us; to include in the requested measures also the “seasonal” workers who work at the CTGS, avoiding any penalization deriving from not having a permanent contract.

This is only part of our proposals which also concern the replacement of ropes and systems.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, through the National Agency for the Safety of Railways and Road and Motorway Infrastructures (Ansfisa) which controls wire transport, has prescribed, after checks carried out following a complaint from a citizen, the replacement of four load-bearing cables of the cable car. The necessary works resulting from the prescription do not yet have an identified temporal definition, but it is intuitive to assume that they will continue in such a way as to unfortunately also prevent the opening of the next winter season.

This dramatic situation will most certainly compromise the collections of the municipal SpA and will therefore make it necessary to take measures to contain personnel costs, with the probable recourse to social safety net measures; a substantial part of the workers currently employed by CTGS do not have permanent contracts but are recruited with “seasonal” contracts whose periodicity, however, by virtue of the specific sectoral skills acquired, has offered the interested audience if not certainty, at least reasonable expectation of continuity of work from year to year. This municipal administration on Gran Sasso carried out two electoral campaigns, but effectively abandoned it.

But we want to be proactive because we care about the working destiny of these people and because a piece of the future of this territory is precisely on the Gran Sasso d’Italia which deserves a much higher centrality in regional and municipal policies. The municipality of L’Aquila is the sole owner of the company shares, has a great responsibility, annually updates the service contract which regulates the relationships between the subjects and which, in light of the events described, must necessarily be subject to review for future years” – they conclude –
