Tomorrow’s Prato in five points and many projects, here is Ilaria Bugetti’s electoral programme

PRATO – There is the pact on work and support for the district on innovation, ecological transition and training, but also a new plan for housing, the opening of listening desks in the neighborhoods and the strengthening of local public transport in the electoral program that the candidate for mayor Ilaria Bugetti presented to the press today and which will be distributed to the people of Prato starting today. A synthesis resulting from the coalition program, from listening to citizens in the territories and from participation also through the platform opened by the Democratic Party. There are five macro themes that contain many proposals to make the city more beautiful, agile, contemporary and European: economic development, work and social cooperation; health, social and sport; environment, mobility and regeneration; culture, education and integration; finally support, protection and security. Chapters that tell the story of the Prato of tomorrow through new projects or interventions already underway that will become reality in the coming months and years. Here is therefore the establishment of a permanent table with the bodies and economic categories on the structure and interventions in the hydrogeological field, the new headquarters of the civil protection, the reprogramming of the concessions of the sports facilities according to the investments of the managers, the coverage of the Gida pools.

An active city that leaves no one behind, taking care of those who are most economically disadvantaged, discriminated against or exploited. And so here is the increase of 100 units in the RSA quotas, the plan on social hardship financed by the profits of the Multiutility, 400 more public houses between new ones and the renovation of existing ones, the fund to support families for registrations for sports courses , the integration between scholastic and extracurricular services, the strengthening of linguistic mediation and free or capped Italian courses. “Proximity – states Bugetti – is a fundamental concept for me, as is listening and participation. Taking care of the little things must go hand in hand with big projects. Only by solving small problems can we lead the community towards big visions.” A city with a rich cultural program that enhances its theater and museum system, also including the world of cinema contained in Digital Manufactures which will be expanded and support for the Camerata and the work it does with schools. But also a lively city that “transforms” its center into a widespread university campus, does not forget its traditions, believes in tourism by investing in its strategic management (dmo) and strengthens the traditions in the hamlets. In the latter case, the impact on Donald Duck is particularly strong where the Carnival Citadel will be built by redeveloping the area of the former building school.

A green city that by 2030 will have to achieve the objectives of carbon neutral Prato also through a system of urban parks that will be built in the former hospital area, above the tunnel that will be built at Soccorso and Sant’Ippolito, the redevelopment of the area of Galceti, the valorization of the Cascine di Tavola with the return of the water into the canals. The reduction of pollution also involves a review of mobility and urban public transport which will focus on the Pecci Peretola metrotramway and the connection with the stations, plus connections between the hamlets and between the car parks outside the walls and the centre. On the security front, competence is national, but the Municipality also wants to do its part by strengthening collaboration with voluntary associations for the strengthening of sensitive areas, supporting the opening of new commercial activities and events to bring the territories to life and keep away bad associations, strengthening Alia’s anti-degradation teams.

But Prato is above all textiles and work. In recent years the Municipality has demonstrated its ability to play a coordination role with trade associations to better manage European and state resources. It can also strengthen this vocation in the field of the circular economy and training by encouraging the matching of job demands and offers. Prato is a laboratory of integration and environmental sustainability policies that can give it a leading role in Europe. For this reason, Bugetti proposes the establishment of the Eir Office, i.e. Europe-Italy-Region, which will have as its basis the strengthening of the Municipality’s Europe desk. “Europe is closer than we think,” said Bugetti, “there are issues and opportunities that affect the functioning of our companies. Therefore having a direct connection with Brussels, alongside the Region, is essential. That of the Municipality is a fundamental coordination role as demonstrated recently by the agreement with 100 companies for the registration of the Prato recycled Cardato brand and the allocation of 10 million euros by the Draghi government intended for the district. We want to continue to do so with the European resources that we will intercept. Having a strong control room is strategic for strengthening the Prato brand.”
