The path taken by the Meloni government to counteract the irregular migrations it’s the right one. The numbers say it, of course, but the interest shown by the strategy adopted by Palazzo Chigi, especially regarding the “Italy-Albania pact” on delocalisation, is taking place in numerous European countries. The confirmation came this morning from France24which revealed how 15 countries asked the Commission to find “new solutions” to more easily transfer migrants to countries outside the European Union, including during rescue operations at sea.

The “group of 15” that wants more solutions against immigration

In this sense, the pact made between was explicitly mentioned Giorgia Meloni and Edi Rama but not only that, because the group of 15, out of a total of 27 member countries, has expressly asked to go beyond the immigration pact recently adopted by the EU which strengthens control over immigration in Europe. In this sense, they asked the Commission for a commitment “to identify, develop and propose new means and new solutions for prevent irregular immigration in Europe“. Leading the group of 15 are Denmark and the Czech Republic, but Italy and Greece are also part of it, as well as Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Finland and the Netherlands. large countries, France, Spain and Germany remain outside, which also finances most of the NGOs operating in the central Mediterranean to disembark irregular migrants in Italy.

The ruling of the Italian Council on “illegal immigration”

In the meantime, something is moving in individual countries. In Italy, the Constitutional Court has ruled on legitimacy of the failure decriminalization of the crime of clandestine immigration, thus dismantling years of left-wing propaganda in this sense. “For years, even with the desire to decriminalize the crime of illegal immigration, center-left governments have tried to ‘normalize’ illegal immigration, effectively fueling the business of traffickers“, has explained Sarah Kelany, deputy of the Brothers of Italy and head of the party’s Immigration department. Since Chigi has been replaced by a centre-right executive led by FdI, the MP continues, “the opposite path has been taken, which aims to stamp out those who profit from migrants and to block departures by addressing the root causes of migration“.

The Dutch Migrant Pact

A small revolution is underway in the countries, after an agreement was reached to form a new government, led by the Freedom Party but not by Geert Wilders, with a four-way coalition with liberals, popular and agrarian populists. Among the topics of the government agreement on migrants in the Netherlands to come, among others, are: the declaration of the state of “asylum crisis“, a plan for the deportation of irregular migrants and the limitation of family reunification. And then, a ceiling on the number of foreign students, the level B1 Dutch speaker and knowledge of Holocaust history to obtain citizenship and no free legal aid for asylum seekers.

Although the government agreement, still to be approved, provides for the disapplication of the European pact, the spokesperson of the European Commission for migration, Anitta Hipper, confirmed that “The Netherlands voted in favor of all legislative instruments in the Pact on Migration and Asylum“.
