THE EAGLE – Maxi drug seizure in Marsica, and this time not of little importance. Yesterday afternoon, i Carabinieri from the L’Aquila investigative unit have dealt another severe blow to the trafficking of drugs intended for large-scale dealing. The beyond half a kilo of cocaine seized from a 42-year-oldstopped on board a small car at the exit of the motorway toll booth Magliano dei Marsitakes away the breathing space of drug traffickers who would have received around 90 thousand euros if sold, and this without taking into account the “cut” that could have been applied to the entire quantity transported, thus significantly increasing the volume, including the business one.
The force’s guard on the drug front has never been lowered, just a few days ago over 4 kilograms of hashish and cocaine were seized in the area around L’Aquila, and five people are being investigated for this reason. Other patrols, just yesterday, were engaged in the centers of Sulmona and Pratola Peligna where the military, with the help of anti-drug dogs, inspected some high schools and places of youth gathering, recovering a few grams of hashish and reporting the possessor to the Prefecture. This time, however, it was the turn of the 42-year-old from the province of Pescara: for him there was no escape. Blocked and searched by the soldiers who intervened, several packages emerged from the vehicle’s cockpit containing over 500 grams of white powder which appeared suspicious in the eyes of the operators. The samples taken and passed to the narcotest immediately revealed that it was cocaine. The arrest of the man accused of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking was immediate. He is now confined at the Avezzano prison where he will await the validation of the arrest by the competent judge, whose request has already been made by the prosecutor on duty at the public prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Avezzanowhich coordinates the investigations.
